NEW TESTAMENT BASICS FOR CATHOLICS

Dates: February 10, 17, 24 , March 3, 10, 17 (6 weeks)

Description:Using the book by the same title authored by Steubenville Professor and biblical scholar John Bergsma, this group will meet to dive more deeply into the salvation story of the New Testament. focusing on its most important writers and laying the foundation for a lifetime of scripture reading. The book is available on Amazon for a reasonable price.

THE BIBLE AND THE CHURCH FATHERS

Dates: February 10, 17, 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7,14, 28, May 5  (12 weeks)

Description: In The Bible and the Church Fathers, you’ll learn who the Early Church Fathers were and how they shaped the way we read Scripture.

The Bible and the Church Fathers will teach you everything you need to know about how the Bible took form. You’ll learn powerful tools for reading it, and you’ll understand Scripture’s relationship to Tradition and, in particular, to the sacraments.

Description: You’ve welcomed the Gospel into your life, but you’re still wondering about next steps. What does it really look like to be a follower of Jesus? We invite you to join us for a 7-week study that explores the basics of Christian living and helps you cultivate foundational habits in your personal life. Each week we’ll watch a video and have time for lively group discussion.

NO PREP.  NO HW. 

We will be using the book, Foundations in Discipleship by FOCUS. If you attend this study, you will be provided with a free book.

GREATER BRIDGEPORT YOUNG ADULT SMALL GROUP

Dates: March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10 (15 weeks)

Time: 6:30pm – 8pm

Location: Parish Faith Center – Munro Room 2 

Description: Through a combination of private home study and group discussion, we will examine the Old Testament Book of Ezekiel and its connection to two New Testament books, that of Hebrews and the Apocalypse, and the revelation given to St. John on the Island of Patmos.

Required materials for this study include:
  • the Bible (see USCCB approved translations)
  • the Catechism of the Catholic Church (accessible online at https://www.usccb.org/)
  • Come and See: Ezekiel, Hebrews, and Revelation (ISBN 10: 1931018650 ISBN 13: 9781931018654) by Fr. Andreas Hoeck and Laurie Watson Manhardt. New digital or print study guides may be purchased directly from the St. Paul Center for $24.95Copies in good condition are available for less money from used book sellers on AbeBooks and eBay.

DAUGHTERS OF GRACE  – THE WOMEN OF THE BIBLE AND THE GOD OF GRACE

Dates: October 2, 16, 23, 30, November 6, 20 (6 weeks)

Time: 6:30pm – 8pm

Location: Parish Faith Center – Community Room 

Description: Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we are introduced to a variety of women who had a significant impact on the story of redemption found in the Bible. Women from different social classes, nationalities, ages, and backgrounds had a profound influence in the events that unfold in Scripture. We see widows and orphans, old women and young girls, live out the calling that God had given them. Throughout each woman’s story, God’s steadfast love and constant grace are evidenced. 

There will be homework to prepare for each week’s discussion. This study is open to all women in the parish.

Description: This course will investigate the origins, nature, and purpose of angels and demons, and how they interact and influence the world around us. This course will also investigate the nature of man: specifically, the nature and relationship between body and soul, and the various powers of the soul.

BUILDING A EUCHARISTIC MARRIAGE

Description: This spring, we will be learning from a new and exciting Catholic 7-part marriage enrichment video series called “Building a Eucharistic Marriage.” This marriage enriching concept and curriculum will be presented by the author, Greg Schutte, MSW, LISW-S. 

Open to engaged and ALL married couples. Whether you’ve been married for 50 years or just getting started, this is for everyone.
